Underarms are one of the most popular areas to wax, and for good reason: weeks of visibly hair-free skin, ultra-soft results, and no more checking before raising your arms. Here's how to nail an at-home underarm session, stress-free.
What's special about the underarm zone
Underarm skin is thin and delicate. Hair grows in multiple directions at once, which means application calls for a bit of extra care. The good news: it's a small area, so sessions are quick once you get the hang of it.
Which wax for your underarms?
For sensitive skin or first-timers, we recommend a gentle, soothing wax. Our Coconut Wax, Tiffany Wax, and Honey Wax are formulated for reactive skin: they grip the hair without irritating the skin. Our Rose Wax for full body also works great in this area.
Prep work
- Let hair grow to at least 3 to 5 mm (about 2 weeks after your last shave).
- Cleanse the area thoroughly and pat it completely dry. No deodorant on the day you wax.
- Apply Pre Wax Lotion to disinfect the skin and improve wax adhesion.
Step-by-step application
- Lift your arm and stretch the skin. You can rest your arm behind your head.
- Apply the wax in the dominant direction of hair growth (often downward). Work in small strips.
- Wait for the edges to cool slightly (20 to 30 seconds).
- Pull in one quick, sharp motion against the hair growth, keeping the skin taut.
- Repeat on the remaining areas, adjusting direction based on how the hair grows.
Things to watch out for
Underarm skin is delicate. Don't apply wax to the same spot more than twice in a row. If a hair resists, grab tweezers instead. Skip the deodorant for 24 hours after waxing.
After your session
Apply After Wax Care to soothe and hydrate the area. It helps close the pores and calm any sensitivity. Results typically last 3 to 4 weeks.
