The bikini zone is often the area beginners hesitate to tackle. But with the right wax and the right technique, it's totally doable at home, and the results are genuinely clean for several weeks. Here's the full breakdown, no taboo.
Why wax the bikini zone?
Wax gives you longer-lasting results than a razor, without the downsides of shaved hair growing back prickly and coarse. Regrowth is softer, finer, and with practice, less and less frequent. No nicks, no itchy regrowth, just smooth skin for several weeks.
Which wax for the bikini zone?
This area is one of the most sensitive on your body. You absolutely need a wax formulated for it. Our Strawberry Wax for Bikini Zone is built specifically for the intimate area: gentle formula, strong grip on short hairs, and total respect for the skin. It's our go-to for the bikini line.
For very reactive skin, our Coconut Wax or Honey Wax can also work well on the lower bikini line.
Before your session: the essentials
- Hair length: 3 to 5 mm. If it's longer, trim it down a bit.
- Clean, dry skin. No oil, no moisturizer.
- Apply Pre Wax Lotion to disinfect the area and improve grip.
- If it's your first time, start with the basic bikini line (the contour) before moving to more internal areas.
Application technique
- Find a comfortable position: lying down or standing with one leg propped up.
- Apply the wax in small strips, in the direction of hair growth, in a thin layer.
- Wait 20 to 30 seconds for the edges to start setting.
- Hold your skin taut with your other hand. This is essential in this zone.
- Pull in one swift, fast, flat motion against the direction of hair growth.
- Place your cool palm on the treated area immediately after.
Work in small strips rather than large sections. It's more precise and less painful. The internal area (between the lips) takes more experience, so start with the outside.
After your session
Bikini-zone skin is fragile, so take care of it. Apply After Wax Care to calm, disinfect, and hydrate. Avoid tight synthetic underwear for 24 hours, intense sweaty workouts, the pool, and the ocean.
A gentle scrub 3 to 4 days after your session helps prevent ingrown hairs. Our KOKO Coconut Body Scrub is perfect for this.
What does the pain really feel like?
Yes, the bikini zone is more sensitive. The first session is usually the most intense. But starting from the second or third time, the follicle weakens, hair grows back finer, and the sensation drops significantly. Most of our customers tell us they're shocked at how much more comfortable it gets.
